Where will you be my darling? Where will you be when the dark is rising?

It's Valentine's Day today.
Heh... I was hoping I could enjoy it with someone. I can kiss that goodbye.
I dunno, I'm a little confused at the moment. Okay, nevermind.
Anyway, I thought I'd give a little info about this widely-known day, as most people have no idea how it originated. Details aside, Saint Valentine was a person (or several people named Valentine) who was martyred. As the great examples will show, martyrs die with love, even towards their killers. The ambiguity of his death aside, Saint Valentine died, and it has come to depict a romantic love between couples thanks to legends made about him.
And a few interesting facts: The U.S. Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately one billion valentines are sent each year worldwide, making the day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year behind Christmas. The association estimates that women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines.
In Saudi Arabia in 2008, religious police banned the sale of all Valentine's Day items, telling shop workers to remove any red items, as the day is considered an un-Islamic holiday. This ban created a black market of roses and wrapping paper.
