Okay, so my previous entry was a catch up on some very, very old outdated things I did. Oh, I forgot to mention in that post. I also went to MTV Worldstage with Wai Kwan and went to Luna Bar with Joseph, Fibiee, Li Hui and Radius. That place is gorgeous.
But back to more recent times. I suppose this shall be another catch up post, since there's a lot that's happened too. Since it's more recent, perhaps I'll type more compared to my previous one. I'll see. I think I'l put this in chronological order.
First, Justin and I discovered something very serious and disturbing about Masayo. As weeks passed, we learned more, confirmed things.
Edit from December 2025. Another draft I left for 14 years.
It's... uh, been so long I think Wai Kwan will be okay with me sharing what happened at MTV Worldstage 2011. She invited me to go with her since he had a free ticket, and we watched opening act Pop Shuvit, Neon Trees (which was very apt, considering we were at i-City, which was surrounded by lit up trees), BEAST, the band she primarily came for, and 30 Seconds to Mars. During the BEAST set, she lost her mind and really enjoyed it, but at the end she started to feel breathless and faint. We both joked it was her just really turned on by BEAST, but she when she said she needed some air, she actually collapsed and fainted. Luckily I caught her just in time before she hit the floor, but now from a funny moment I was panicking. I quickly carried her in my arms through the crowd and asked for people to get out of the way. It was quite the task. It was crazy packed and except for the few people who were directly in front of us, the people further back didn't know what was going on and took their time to part and give me room. Plus carrying her in between my arms would be fine if it wasn't a crowd, and just for a while, but carrying her through the crowd while she was fainted was tough. I managed to get all the way to the back and managed place her on a section she could rest. I asked someone to give her water, as this was an emergency, and luckily didn't need to pay the exorbitant amounts they normally charge for water at these events. The wide open space was enough for her to breathe and she seemed much better. And coincidentally, Andrew (Joel) was there, chilling with Amelia. Asked us what happened and I filled him in. Wai Kwan was in much better shape, but she didn't want to go in front again. That was fine. We sat and enjoyed 30 Seconds to Mars from the back before I drove her back home. She told me to never tell anyone what happened, and apart from Andrew, who saw what happened, I've not mentioned it. Until now, on this blog! Which no one reads anymore, lol. Plus this is backdated anyway, so unless you know what you're looking for, you're not going to find this.
I also hung out with Fei Yan and her friends Jade, Sherman and Shermaine (twins). I'd hung out with them before in various capacities. I don't remember the details of this hang out, but I believe it was a meal.
It was also around this time that Justin, Redzuan and I, and a large number of Symposium were regularly drinking at 17 Saloon. Getting drunk, stories, laughing and all were great times over delicious Jaz lychee beer (not an ad). During one of these sessions, we found out that Masayo was cheating on Redzuan. Considering the amount of time and effort we spent to integrate her into the friend group with Symposium, and how close Redzuan was to us, we knew this would be ugly regardless. In fact, I had trouble sleeping thinking about how to deal and confront the issue with them. So did Justin. We spent quite a bit of time gathering evidence and making sure this wasn't just a claim, and we were also trying to prove ourselves wrong, but alas, we got incontrovertible proof over time that it was true.
Basically, the gist was Masayo has always slept around. No judgement on that, but she did it while attached before, and was the "other woman" to several relationships, and it seemed like she genuinely wanted to stop that when she got together with Redzuan. However, Redzuan was a broke college student, and she was working in a bar to make money. She wanted to pursue a relationship with a rich guy who would provide for her, so she could provide for Redzuan. She had birth control pills that Redz knew she wasn't using with him, and we found his name card stashed somewhere secretly.
Justin and I eventually developed our plan for how to tell Redzuan. We hung out at Ming Tien as usual, just the three of us, and there was a very obvious awkwardness and lull in the conversations, as Justin and I didn't quite know how to start the ball rolling. We brought up a hypothetical "brother" who had a very tight girlfriend cheat on him and asked Redz if he thought we should tell this brother, and Redzuan very emphatically said yes, a true brother would tell and he said he'd rather know the truth. Then Justin said, "That brother is you.". To say my heart was broken would be an understatement. Seeing Redzuan's crestfallen face was sad as hell. It didn't help that he was in black metal face paint for some event he was at earlier. He looked painfully at me and asked me if this was a joke. I said we would never joke about something like this. He kept begging us to tell him this was a joke and just seemed in complete denial. Painful, genuinely. He began to cry and told us he had planned to marry her, that she even stopped eating pork for him. Welp. We consoled him for a few hours, sharing our findings and what we knew. He pieced some things together based on his own experiences and what we told him, but would have never guessed it was leading to this. After a while some of Symposium came over to further console him and lots of hugs and tears were shed. At the time, Redzuan and Masayo were staying together, so there was no hiding it. He would have to deal with her later that night after her work. Redzuan was thinking a random assortment of things to say or do. This is where our opinions differed. I agreed with Redzuan directly confronting her. Justin supported Redzuan's idea of having sex with her, then kicking her off the bed and telling her to get f*cked and revealing he knew everything. While I said I wouldn't judge him, I told him it wasn't going to make him feel better, not to mention I doubt he could have sex knowing what he knew. Still, the choice was his. The rest of us sat at Ming Tien until like 3am waiting to see what would happen. We were nervous and didn't speak much. When Redzuan came over to fill us in, he basically stopped her from having sex with him, sat her down, and put the guy's namecard in front of Masayo. More or less revealed what he knew, and she began yelling, defending herself, explaining, and all. That's where we heard about her excuse for getting her sugar daddy to support Redzuan financially, indirectly. She packed her essentials and went to a friend's place, while more tears and hugs were shared amongst those who stayed till late. He later told us that when she came to get the rest of her stuff, he let her in while he stayed in the living room, and when we went back up, he saw 2 plush seals left on the bed. At the time we were jokingly referring to Redzuan as a seal as he was gaining a ton of weight.
I made a post on November 22, 2011 that my heart hurt for doing what was right. It was referring to that night.
There was also another Symposium trip to Genting, where we filmed a half-assed documentary about Amber Court being haunted. Of course, no ghosts were found and nothing came out of the stuff we filmed, but it was a ton of fun being stupid.
In my drafts I have something called "Petersaysdenim" with no elaboration, so I have no idea what this is about. I googled it and I still have no recollection. Hm.
Last thing listed on the draft was getting the EP of The Metaphor, titled "Preface" from Tomas Tam, their lead guitarist. I have loved The Metaphor's postrock music since sharing the stage with them, and when they were finally releasing their EP, I went for it. Tomas said he was hanging out at The Curve, one of the bars there to promote the CD while supporting another gig. I dropped by, paid for it and stayed around for the gig and a few beers. I still listen to it till now, and after ripping the music digitally, it has never left my playlist all these years.

Where do I even begin?
So much has happened in the last few weeks.
I'm probably never going to update what I said I would update, so I might as well give a brief summary of what I typed in last time... let's see... on September 29 I wrote "Singapore, Festival of the Tritone, Tyranny of the Eight, Miki, broken hard disk, James' birthday, Khar Loo, Essenism, tarot cards, Kai Yih, Caffeines, work."
Singapore... I went to Singapore for the first time in 2011. Had a great time catching up with the Magic Gang, Debbie, E458 and E507, and a lot of other church members. Koh Wee booked a chalet that's only reserved for army personnel, so we had a huge chalet, huge LCD TV (and he brought his PS3), and couches that were unbelievably comfortable. Magic Gang came over and it was like we were all back in secondary school again, just older, and with smokers in the mix now. Lol. There's a lot I can't remember... don't know why.
Festival of the Tritone. Number 2. Justin organized it, and we had 4 bands. Justin's band, Sacwrath, my band Forsake Me Not, Asri's band Kolbenfaust and lastly, the invited band Unexpected Mercy. Unexpected Mercy was the biggest out of all of us, but let's just say they weren't professional in timing. It was great fun though, and I enjoyed it tremendously. I was the one who designed the poster/flyer too.
Tyranny of the Eight. Maosun, Masayo's band, and Kolbenfaust are both signed to TFHM Records. They organized a gig and we went to support. The place was a gorgeous place perfectly suited for metal gigs, and it was great to see plenty of local bands.
Miki. She called me at 4am one night and I was wondering what the hell was going on. She ran off from home due to some issue I shall not disclose here. Let's just say I am pissed off with her dad. I drove over to her place, brought her back to mine, talked a bit and stuff, and slept and went to work like a zombie the next day. I realize my home is like a refugee house. Ran away from home? Can't stand your parents? Need a place to stay? Want a place to drink with no consequences? Come to my house! LOL. Anyway, she was well taken cared by my mom, and Miki's mom was tearfully grateful to me. No worries.
Broken hard disk. While Redzuan was transferring stuff to me, he accidentally dropped my hard disk from table-height. Needless to say my hard disk DIED and everything inside was lost. Thankfully most of the stuff was already in my laptop, but some pictures were gone forever, such as the Penang trip photos, and several others. Games and movies I didn't keep on my laptop could be downloaded and taken from others at any time, so it didn't concern me too much. Took the stupid company a month and a half to give me my warranty-guaranteed free replacement though. Zzz.
James' birthday. We celebrated! With alcohol. He puked, and made noodles with his puke. I'm not kidding. It looked like a local dish called Wat Tan Hor (I don't know the spelling). Yuck. But job well done.
Khar Loo. No drama here. Just reminded myself and shared the story with a few others. We still haven't spoken since the final email.
Essenism. We finally caught up after so long! We spent more or less the entire day chilling out, watching a movie, playing in the arcade and stuff from early afternoon all the way to night. Great, great time spent with them, especially after so long.
Tarot cards. Justin and I know a person who went to a Taoist tarot card reader who seems to be full of crap, but otherwise convinced this person we know that he had true powers/skills/charlatanism. We went to disprove and expose this guy, but we couldn't, because we hadn't made an appointment, and he had a full schedule. LOL. Craps. Was hoping to be James Randi during that time. Zzz.
Kai Yih. I caught up with her after a long time. She was expelled from Nottingham University due to failing a resit paper so I had to help out with her appeals and admissions to other universities. We're just friends, as it has always been.
Caffeinees. Been going there a lot more than usual in the last few weeks. They'ved moved, and the place is still as awesome (and expensive) as ever. However I love the atmosphere and the food, and with Symposium there its the icing on the cake.
Work. Work. Work. Need I say more?
