Well, I had my second pandemic birthday, lol.
Except this time I'm still going to work, and since it was dead in the middle of the week, I celebrated with the waifu over the weekend instead. We ordered The Captain's Boil, and had sumptuous feast at home. She also surprised me with a Zoom call with Essenism! Once again, nice touch. As we said, we hope we don't only call each other only during my birthday, lol. And for them, to meet up more often once things settle down! Of course, that's unlikely in the near future considering the utter incompetence of the Malaysian government at the moment, with the crazy number of cases of COVID in Malaysia right now. Either way, thank you babe for organizing it, as well as the dinner! Such a lovely time spent.
On the church side of things, my church's minister, James Ravenscroft, is leaving. Aye, it's a great loss for the whole church, considering he's been a great minister and leader in many areas. His progressive views on sexual orientation, race, indigenous issues and all have been very welcoming and affirming for lots of people. The time spent with him during the Faith Exploration sessions, the Sky Light camp, and all the meetings in the groups we're a part of have been good and productive times. It's partially to do with his dad passing away; his husband, Glen, is from Newfoundland, so they'll be moving over there and he'll be ministering to a church there. I helped out with the funeral, and it's been the only time I've helped handle the camera for a Zoom funeral, since we could only have a small number of family members attend in the church sanctuary itself. Lots of church members attended virtually to pay their last respects. So anyway, since we need to pick a new minister, there's a selection committee, and well, I was selected as one of them. I honestly felt unqualified as I was only in the church for 2 years and there were people who've been there longer than I've been alive. But they said as a very important person in the congregation, attending so many things and as a newcomer, my voice was also important as they didn't only want older members to make the decisions, negating the newer, younger opinions. So I accepted. I've never picked a new minister before. Feels funny, almost like being a hiring manager for a job, which it literally is. The previous 2 churches I attended are still pastored by their founders.
Oh, I also had to get an abscess drained. More accurately, a sebaceous cyst. I'd been feeling what I thought was a pimple growing on my "upper-thigh" growing since January but it didn't go away and grew even more, to the point it was getting painful to sit down unless I shifted my body position in an awkward way to sit. So I finally asked my doctor about it and he referred me to a specialist to take a look and told me to get it treated at the emergency centre at Mackenzie Health; they fast-forwarded me to get it drained immediately with an incision. So yeah. That was an awkward experience. Something new for me too. Apart from the stomach flu over 20 years ago where I was barfing everything out, I never needed to go to a hospital for myself. But they squeezed and got rid of a lot of sebum, along with plenty of blood. Sitting down is comfortable again now. Onion has been treating the wound by squeezing out some remaining sebum and applying bandages daily, so you know, the things you do for love.
It's the end of May now. The waifu and I are finally getting ready to leave this godforsaken place. So sick and tired of the constant noise and music the tenants above make. They're quite literally taking our words and complaints to heart, making a shit ton of noise until 12 midnight when they shut up. Zzz. Because of the warmer weather now, they're mostly exercising on the front porch, which has helped with the rhythmic stomping from their exercise. But they still blast their music and walk like giants throughout most of the day. It's not a bad place by itself. But a leaking washing machine, a sink that can't handle a grain of rice before it gets clogged, and inconsiderate housemates who can't give a crap about consideration? Yeah, glad to be free of this really soon. My cousin Chloe has helped list a few places for us to find. So glad!
Also, lately BPS has taken a break from gaming since the earlier part of the year. We missed a few sessions and took a few breaks and we haven't really gotten back on track. So in the meantime I've been gaming with Jimmy instead. Yes, my childhood friend, the oldest friend I have, haha! We reconnected a year or two ago, when I accidentally bumped into him at Finch terminal, waiting for my bus. He was a bit unsure where to go and he asked me for directions. I saw him and was like, "Jimmy?!" And he recognized me too! Lmao, even after 18 years. We met up once for pho in Chinatown before the lockdowns, so we chatted a bit and ended up gaming together. Mostly been playing Killing Floor 2 and Watch Dogs 2, although we also had Overcooked 2 sessions with the waifu included. We just started Diablo 3 the other day, so it's all around pretty cool.
Oh, and Toshi says "6v sazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"
Little bugger stepped on my keyboard as I was getting coffee. She's no longer the tiny kitten we adopted. She's almost a fully grown adult now, and her (more than) 3kg ass on our chests is way more suffocating now. Also, we lost the war of attrition and she's goes anywhere she wants now, including stepping over our heads and bodies whenever she feels like it. But, everyday when I come home from work, she always hops away from wherever she is to wait for me at the door (even pets from the waifu), then she furiously rubs her head against my legs and arms. So adorable, so sweet! Like a little girl greeting her dad, I mean, slave, at the door. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.
