So another thing died on my front porch over the weekend. On Saturday, Pik Lin and I wanted to head out for some errands and also to chill a bit since she really needs a break, and I could use one too. As I opened the door, I was greeted by the body of a decapitated squirrel, with blood and guts all over. Great. First Dinosaur, and now this squirrel, probably a raccoon's meal or something. I cleaned it up as best I could before Pik Lin and I rushed out to catch the bus, since it was coming soon, and the next one was in half an hour. I bleached our front porch and steps later that evening.
We chilled around the Bloor and Bay area, checking out Indigo after an okonomiyaki meal on their patio. Nearly all restaurants there are only allowing take out again, lol, in light of the rising COVID cases. We dropped by Winners for some things we needed in the house and went back home, where I decided to take a space cookie my colleague made. Having only one experience with edibles, I've been cautious ever since. So I took half. And it was damn strong. Holy shit, how much oil was put in it? I played Left4Dead 2 with BPS because of the new campaign and updates, and I ended up shooting them more than the zombies, lmao. Network was pretty unstable however, and we disconnected several times, annoying us quite a bit. I was the worst player that night, when I'm normally one of the better ones, haha!
Oh, remember the new tenants who moved in? Well, they're noisy as shit. Throughout the day they're stomping all over the place, even in their own rooms and making weird noises in the midst of their crazy loud conversations. They've been playing loud movies and shows on their devices past midnight several times. After knocking on their door 5 times over the course of a month telling them to shut it, we got into a confrontation on the 6th time. They were making a shitload of noise at 1:30am on Saturday. I heard someone yell "What, what?!" as the guy who opened the door spoke to me. I invited them to come down to our room and hear just how loud they were, so they could understand we weren't knocking on their door over every little noise they made. The rest of the housemates came over to see what the commotion was about, as the "What What" guy said something along the lines of "Talk, too loud, music, too loud, TV, too loud. Cannot do anything ah?" Again, I invited them to come down to the room just so they could hear it, and that I wasn't making shit up. Verify for yourselves, I told them. Don't just take my word for it. Pik Lin came up to explain more, trying to come to a compromise.
They tried to explain that they're usually considerate, but sometimes, conversation gets loud when topics get interesting. Yeah, I told them I understood, but I needed to wake up early 6 days of the week, and that they weren't the only ones living in the house. The most reasonable of them, Rana, apologized and said he tries to tell them to be quiet whenever they get too loud. He said he comes home around midnight and after a shower, the mealtime conversation is all he has with them before he goes to sleep. I sympathized, saying it sucks our schedules were different but I still needed to get sleep, and I couldn't with their noise late at night. His brother, another Rana, handled the rest of the conversation as things cooled down a little more.
They've generally been quieter at night since. Neither of us wants another confrontation. I mean, I've always been a night owl. I love going to parties, hanging out late, making loads of noise. But not when it's inconsiderate to other people. Even at house parties, whenever there's been a noise complaint, I've always been considerate of it. And most of the time when I hang out it's outdoors anyway, and I don't make a lot of noise at home because it's a place for people to rest. And even more so as a working adult, when I can't afford a lack of sleep every night because you guys come home late every day. I'm seriously considering getting noise-absorbent foam to drown them out a bit more. They're still loud as hell during the day and evening, which I don't complain about since it's not night. But it sure makes having an afternoon nap harder on certain weekends. Brown noise on YouTube drowns them out a little bit, but I don't want to rely on that every time we're home.
Funny thing, 2 weeks back they locked themselves out of the house, and had to knock on our door to ask us to open the door. Lol, now they owe us. So shut it!
Aye, hell. A long complaint post. I've been a therapist for several people's relationship problems in the last few weeks. I'm sorry, but there's only so much I can advise when certain parties don't listen. Hope you all listen and take it into consideration at least. Or apply it to your circumstances.
